I am in a fix about the right way to fill up the 'desired salary' column in an online application. I am senior in my field and my last salary was high and compares well only to the best companies. However, right now they are downsizing and I need a job very badly. I am willing to take up a job that pays lower than my last salary. However, my dilemma is - if I put a lower salary I might loose on my money (maybe the company could pay that much); if I put my last salary as the expected amount, I might loose the job because I expect a higher salary than they can pay. What can I do to ensure I do not loose out

Just put down "salary negotiable"
