I have been painting for myself, and on a part time casual basis with a local contractor for the last 3 years.
Examples of places / jobs I have done have been various private homes, Colchester Hospital, “Spring Health Leisure” Schools in Essex and Suffolk.
However I wish get a foot in the door, in the painting and decorating trade.
I’m willing to come a do a few “Freebie” hours / days so my work can be looked at.
I’m also looking at attending night school at a local collage, to gain additional skills.
I really would love to work in this trade; I’m hard working, and very trustworthy.

You hav thought well regarding those "Freebie" hours, they will have some doors open for you. It is very important in this field to have a very strongly built portofolio, with works done for various companies. The greater the name of the company, the greater your chances to get in somewhere. About the night school hours in a college, that's not bad either, especially if the finality of those hours is some sort of diploma. With interior design (or design in general), a diploma is always welcomes. They have this preconception that people are talented only if the have a diploma.
Good luck to you!
