| I was laid off from my previous job in 10/2009 due to the company closing, I was in the mortgage and title business. I was finally able to find a Part-Time job in a Doctor's Office. I have been there for 3 mths., when I was hired I had to sign a document that gave me a 6th month probation period. I was fine with that still am, problem is I hate it there. I never get out at a reasonable hour because they overbook, when I was hired they said that there my be some times when you get out a little later not and hour. The other night I didn't get home till 10pm because we could not get out till 8:40pm my bus left and the next one was not till 9:40pm. My 3 year old daughter was home with my husband who worked the 4am to noon shift that day and he passed out on her, she was alone hours. I do not have a cell phone and there is no such thing as a pay phone anymore. The other employees correct what I do wrong so nasty and belittle you, this is not my field I am learning. I am physically ill thinking about going there. I want to quit but I do not want to lose my unemployment from my other full time job that I lost. Please somebody give me some advice, the are not going to change the hours for me, none of my other coworkers have children. so they cannot understand why leaving this late upsets me. |

This situation sounds like a no-win for you, if you're not getting any comprehension and such a negative environment from your co-workers. I understand the importance of not wanting to lose your unemployment, so the only real option is another job.
Sorry to say this is an impasse, and the only way is out, unless you can swing another version of this job. If you don't go beyond probation, you might get lucky, and not lose the unemployment if they decide not to keep you on.
You can talk to the employer, and explain the situation. This one doesn't sound too understanding, but if you make your case, you could be seen as unsuitable. Not much of a result, but better than the misery.
Good luck, |
