|
|
| My Pennsylvania UC benefit year is up in early November but my 13 weeks of tier 2 EUC won't be used up until the end of the year. In November will I have to apply all over again to start a new claim, or will PA just automatically carry everything over so I can continue to collect the remainder of my EUC? If I have to re-apply for a new claim, do they actually go through the whole process of talking to the last employer and all of that all over again? |

| I agree it would be dumb, but the PA UC site isn't very clear. So they'd extend the benefit year then? I haven't gotten anything telling me to do this, just to be clear, but the site makes it sound as if I'd have to apply for a new claim to start a new benefit year to continue to collect the remainder of the tier 2 EUC. |

Few things would surprise me in PA, I promise you. I've had a look around that site myself, and clarity of expression isn't the first description I'd use. All I can honestly say at this point is I haven't heard any other PA sufferers complaining about this issue, just the rest of the encyclopedia of UC worries.
From the look of this link, you're OK, if you run out in November:
http://www.dli.state.pa.us/landi/cwp/view.asp?a=355&q=251478
I'd say on the strength of this you're within the band, and don't need to do anything.
But, because things going right is so unusual in PA UC, if you know anyone else in the same boat, check out and see if they've had any official advice. |

| I have to say aside from a lack of information, a few delayed deposits, and confusing/contradicting letters sent by them about those deposits, it's been relatively painless with them so far. No major screw ups for me at least. Getting anybody on the phone for answers is almost impossible though. Unfortunately I don't know anybody in the same boat as me, so if anybody knows for sure please let me know. |

hey im pete. actually i am in the SAME BOAT and YES you have to reapply.
jump on it right away.the day your benefit year ends, that very day the money will stop.even the 50$ every other week.
i got very lucky and the first person that answered the phone
actually just went ahead and took the 10 minutes to take care of everything right over the pnone.she even released the 2 weeks i was waiting on.
only problem is i didnt get the 50$ i was supposed to.my guess is
that they probably had a hold on that to and im on hold as we speak trying to get it fixed. my BYE was october 18th.so i just went through it.
its a huge waste of alot of things.time, money, paper etc etc.
you literally go through the whole application process for regular UC so you can get denied and that way can continue the extension.like i said though i got through it very smoothly.i wasnt proactive.i assumed.
dont asssume.if your BYE is 11/01/09 call them on 11/02/09.
i really hope this has been helpful.i joined this forum just today
once i saw this question. this is all true and all happened.
life is just horrible when you have to worry about money the entire time. |

Thanks for letting me know about it. It sounds like a royal pain. Can you do it online again, or is calling the only option? I hate calling in because it takes forever to even be able to connect to even get in the holding cue. I always just get a busy signal.
My situation was complicated when I first applied for bens so I'm worried they'll mess something up if I have to do it all over again. I had been working 2 jobs right before going on unemployment and moved to a location with my girlfriend that was too far from the full-time job, but I was still able to stay at the part-time job with the promise of more hours until I could get bumped to full-time. Shortly after, instead of giving me more hours, they cut my hours by more than half and that's when I went on unemployment. I'm still fuzzy on the rules on how each job affected my eligibility for UC, but I sent the full story with my original application. I was approved even though I didn't think I had earned enough with the part time job (under $2k at the time) which was the job I thought made me eligible because of reduced hours. I hadn't thought much of it after I was approved since I had sent the whole explanation in and I was still approved, until one week when I went to file my bi-weekly claim. The days I usually worked part-time were a holiday that time so work was closed and I didn't work. When I filed online, it said I had to call in because since I didn't have any hours one week the computer system thought I wasn't working at all, so I called in. The UC guy on the phone seemed to think I had gotten laid off from the original full-time job and was working part-time there still. I corrected him and he changed the company name for my current part-time job in the computer and left it at that, but it made me wonder if they had messed up originally and that's the only reason I got approved in the first place. I didn't want to dig too much into it in case it was a mistake because I need that money and it's through no fault of my own that I need it.
Ugh, so now I'm hoping if you apply for a new benefit year if I don't get approved for regular UC (which I shouldn't) it just defaults to me continuing to be able to collect my EUC. I'm not even sure I remember all of the details I'll need to file again. Anybody have any advice on this one? |

i hope this helps to releive your worries some more.
first off trust me you wanna call.they have your old application on file
and will just transfer all info for you.you will just have to answer
a few questions no harder then any questions you answer when you
sign on every 2 weeks to put in claim.
also remember no matter what on the day you can
do your bi-weekly claim make sure you still do.always do that
unless directed otherwise.the money gets put on hold and
is released by the person you will speak with on the phone.
also remember they are doing this everyday, all day.
its a waste of time and paper and money but they are getting more
efficient at wasting it.
if anyone is done tier 1 and tier 2 and is now on state extended benefits
could you please let me know ho it is goin? of all the months and weeks
my tier 2 ends 2 days before CHRISTMAS.
anything else i can do or any other questions you have please feel free.
by the way im pete and im in philly! |

Hey pete. Just a quick question. My benefit year ended on October 25.. I was recently approved for EUC tier 2.. I filed my biweekly claim a day or two before my benefit year ended and I actually did receive my payment.. It was a day late, however, I still received it. Given the fact that I have already received a payment AFTER my benefit year ended, Do you still think I will have to re-apply? I called the other day to ask them if I had to and the message I got said that there is no need to reapply unless your payment is more than ten days late. They will automatically review each claim and contact you if they need additional information. Should I call anyway? Thanks for your help... |

| You have to re-apply. The website just made me. You got your payment because it's for weeks that were in your ben year. Apparently my last employer didn't report something correctly so my future payments might be delayed depending on how fast they return some paperwork to settle the new ben year. Why you possibly have to jump through hoops again I have no idea. |
