Getting jobs in the UK is very tough right now. Your age is a problem for getting regular work. You need parental consent, because of the labor laws.
There usually is some casual work around, but you can't do some things until you're older. Your best shot is to approach employers directly. Look for places you'd really like to work, see what they've got available.
You can get very useful job skills that will translate into more money down the track, too, so you won't be wasting your time. Showing interest in a particular job is a definite positive, from the employer's perspective.
If you want to really get somewhere with part time jobs, you could be starting your career early, if you go for something you're really interested in. Any career related jobs you can find can be really good for you later. You get actual work experience, and some useful training, as you progress. |

Hi Broke but happy!
Unfortunately as Paul said it is really hard for someone your age to find a job...
Uk law states that you can employ a 13/14 year old companies are heavily restricted by the hours that they can give you which doesn't always fit into their business needs.
I would suggest going to your local Connextions centre as they will be able to provide you with further ideas about what companies are suitable and your options moving forward!
Hope this helps! |
