Hi Deborah,

I am writing my resume and know that I am way over qualified for a job I am applying for, but am desperate to work. Should I down grade my resume or should I send my real resume. I am afraid that if I downgrade my resume and there are over qualified desperate applicants, they will choose them and not me.
I have been scratching my head over this one for the last couple of days and not sure what to do with my resume for this job. Overqualified is not so easy to determine as well, as I am sure I will use all the skills I know on this job..

You can soften your resume a bit without downgrading it too much.

Send it to me privately and give me an idea of what you are applying for so I can get a better idea.

I'm curious about how this went, because I'm in the same situation. I was thinking I don't need to soften my resume, but when I went to an interview they said that I was too good for them and that they are afraid I might leave my job if I get a better offer (I admit they were right in their judgement). So...I didn't get that job, even if I was quite dersperate at the moment. It took me 4 months to find something that fit me.

very true..as a recruiter when l come across someone overqualified, l rarely employ them, better to re-write your CV to suit the post 100%, without lying..just down play anything over experienced.

To whom it may concern,

I've been trying to apply online for a teller position at a few banks but the problem is, I really am an overqualified candidate and it currently is the only type of work that is feasible enough to meet with my needs. And lately, I have had no luck w/ any banks responding to my inquiry for the position I applied for. I need serious help, and fast!

Recieving feedback from your staff would be greatly appreciated. Will it be convenient to e-mail your team a copy of my resume so that I can recieve specific suggestions on how to "soften" my skills and qualifications that I've listed? Or, may I contact one of your staff members directly? Either way, it really is mandadtory that I complete this asap.

I hope you're up for the challenge. Thank you for your time and consideration.
