CareerCrate Steps up to the challenge

How do you present career information to everyone from 14 year old school students to 40 year old second career seekers in a way that will grab and hold their attention?

CareerCrate is stepping up to the challenge!

For Career Seekers

The Advantages of using CareerCrate for career seekers

CareerCrate is a smart new career education resource, modelled on a YouTube style platform. This represents numerous advantages:
It is a learning experience and a style of video presentation that school students and the younger workforce generation really relate to.

CareerCrate is free to the end user.

The content can be fun – but still impart all the information necessary to get a good understanding about a career.

There is no uniformity in the way each video is presented – There are documentary style videos along side formal “talking head” videos, along side fast paced commercial style videos, next to webcam home movies. They all have one thing in common – they contain important career information. This lack of uniformity makes it easier to watch and enjoy multiple videos than if they were all presented in the same routine way.

There is a comment space under each video where users can ask questions or reply to someone else’s questions.

Just as with YouTube, the General Public can upload videos about their careers onto CareerCrate. These videos are first released in our Site Admin, where they are screened to ensure the content is appropriate and valid before being released into the Public Areas of the site.
There are major advantages to using this method of obtaining content:
1.It makes it possible to acquire a greater number of videos than would otherwise be possible. The resources needed for any one organization to produce videos covering many of the job categories listed in the National Occupational Classification would be considerable. We believe that public can be persuaded to submit videos that will return a large volume of valuable content over a number of years. This can be achieved at relatively low cost by offering incentive prizes.
2.CareerCrate will obtain information about career types that are not well known, and that would otherwise slip under the radar.
3.It is possible to acquire multiple videos about one career type. This widens the perspective about that career, with submissions that may portray a variation of the same career, or present the same career in a different environment, or perhaps the identical career just seen from someone else’s viewpoint. This presents an enhanced learning experience for someone who may be interested in that career.
For Organizations

The Advantages of using CareerCrate for Organizations

In a nutshell – if your organization has any interests in Career Information or Human Resources, they should be featured on CareerCrate, or using it as a tool, or both!

CareerCrate is a powerful instrument for Organizations and Human Resource departments to utilize in reaching people to disseminate career information.
Schools, colleges and career assistance organizations can utilize CareerCrate as one of their resources to assist both first and second career seekers in making informed career choices. Career education can be fun!!!

Federal and Provincial governments can use CareerCrate to reach young people both in Canada and abroad to promote specific job types, particularly in those industries where labour shortages are being experienced or forecast.
Industries and non-profit organizations such as the Sector Councils can profile specific job types that are of interest to them.

Colleges and Universities can utilize CareerCrate as a platform to create awareness about their programs.
In addition to having their videos uploaded into the distinct categories on CareerCrate, Organizations can also have their own dedicated page on the site. This page will hold only their videos. It also contains a forum, which can be closed for input by the organization only, or open so the public can ask questions and receive answers. There can be links from this page back to the Organization’s Website.

There are ways that Organizations can promote their presence on the site, by having their videos featured on the home page and by having presence on the large revolving flash player on the home page, which links through to their videos or their dedicated page.

CareerCrate's Mission

Most people have a concept of only the most well known job types, and there is often little depth to that knowledge. The primary purpose of CareerCrate is to engage today's career seekers and to fill this gap. Our aim is to encourage people to invest more time and effort in thinking about their future.
