Hi,
I am finding myself totally consumed by worry and stress over what i'm going to do with myself careerwise and it's really caused my confidence to plumit.
I am 24 and currently working in retail and I am really unhappy, I always saw myself working in a creative and exciting job using my art skills in some way but things dont seems to be going that way. I have an HND in public art which I finished 3 years ago and I am now enrolled in an evening class in web design. I have never managed to get myself a degree which is a huge regret and now i'm not sure i can afford to go into full-time study.
I guess I just wanna know who has been in a similar situation and what happened? I need a bit of comfort in knowing that I'll solve this problem one day.
I am really interested in a job in digital design but because of my drop in confidence I am starting to doubt my talents. I have also always been interested in teaching art & design to children of primary school age but have absolutely no idea how I would even go down this route.
Any advice of any sort would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. |

Hello there,
I have a degree in IT and also have skills in web development and have my own portfolio. Getting into the digital design industry is difficult. You need to have lots of good work in your portfolio to show employers otherwise they are not interested. I am thinking of doing something else besides digital design now. Its such a demanding market, they want soooo many skills and give little reward. |
