Here's some backstory first: I'm currently collecting Tier 3 benefits in New Jersey, that will run out mid January. I recently mailed in my job search form this past friday (nov. 20), to claim for weeks ending 11/14 and 11/21. I would be making the claim tomorrow, Wednesday Nov. 25th.
I got a notice today titled "Notice To Claimant of Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Eligibility". It's telling me to call or claim online for weeks ending 11/14 and 11/21, which are the weeks I would have been claiming for anyway. The notice is set up like a normal biweekly claim form, with all the questions that you'd have to answer. Below that, is a section that says: "Notice of Benefit Determination - Extended Unemployment Compensation Tier 3 and 14th Week of Tier 2". Right below that is a New EUC Tier 3 Maximum Benefit Amount that includes 14th week of Tier 2, as well as my EUC Tier 3 Weekly Benefit Rate.
Below that is a note that says: "new federal legislation established a third tier of EUC benefits and added a 14th week to tier 2, effective november 8th 2009. The MBA for EUC Tier 3 is equal to 13 weeks or 50% of the MBA on your regular claim, whichever amount is less. To expedite payment of benefits, your EUC tier 3 MBA includes the 14th week of EUC tier 2. This combined MBA is equal to 14 weeks, or 54% of your MBA, whichever is less. Please follow the instructions above to certify for these benefits."
So can someone please help me out and explain all this to me? I'm sure the answer is simple, but i'm still confused![]()
