    Listening to ipods at work?

    Canada

What jobs/ careers are out there where you can listen to your ipod while at work?

Basically I'm an Arts major student who works part-time doing security to pay my way. I've been listening to audio-versions of my textbooks and lectures and I find working at a job that allows the use of ipods at work the best thing since sliced bread.

I'm into listening to audiobooks and am looking for a job that does not require a lot of thinking as I want to concentrate on my audiobook that I'm listening to. I would prefer a job that is self paced and highly autonomous. Any Ideas?

I want to think long term, as once I grad, I don't plan on doing security work. And am not really interested in trucking or janitorial.

To get the ball rolling, three that I know of: Security Guard, Janitorial, long-haul trucking ( via in-cab speakers). I personally know of a trucker who is an ex- philosophy major and averages about 5-6 full length books listened in a month.

    listening WOULD help very much

I am looking for the same thing in a job right now actually, and I've done a google search on the topic of listening to music while on the job and this is one of the first things that came up so I joined quickly and am posting so that we can both brainstorm. I don't blame you for not wanting to do security work - plus I don't know if you'd be able to listen because of bosses. I think it would be great if we contacted a variety of professionals in different fields and multiple of them within each and ask them about the topic (multiple within each field to get a more reliable average response). A couple things I've thought of are Air Traffic controller (idk what the training is like tho) , possibly working in a warehouse or something, idk. It would be great to just get out a huge list of different jobs and check off which ones can and which cans and the list is within your reach. I'm going to keep thinking about it and get back to this
