In these dark times of unemployment and no job security I used wanted to share my experiences with you. I recently decided to do some online training in Excel and Word originally as I wanted to look for a new job. I worked in the evenings with an online training provider (Quasar Anytime) who uses video for training and I got really into it. I really enjoyed learning again, and it was something to occupy my mind when I was bored at work. My colleagues started to notice how good my skills got, but I didn't tell them I'd been training. My boss started asking my help with things and my relationship with him improved. I did really well at my next appraisal and starting enjoying my job more. Now I have a key role in the department and we have improved our processes. I am loving this and no longer need to change jobs.
I think we all complain about our jobs but forget that we can do something to improve our working lives. I thoroughly recommend getting some training in stuff like Word and Excel if you want to get on in your career.
