I had received an interview call letter asking me to be present in Iowa at 9.15 am on April 21st. Since I was working I had to take leave so I could make arrangements to leave one day in advance as IOWA is an overnight journey from my place. I reached Iowa at 7.25 am, had a wash and breakfast and was present at the venue given in the letter sharp at 8.45 am. When I reach there however, I find the place locked. I wait. Two hours later, at 10.45 am two men come and open the locks. I show them my letter and ask them about my interview. They are obviously surprised and a bit irritated by my intrusion. Nonetheless they enquire and give me another address to go to. When I rush to that address I find it with 5 other candidates. As I wait patiently for my turn, the interviwers (all three of them) come out and say that they will regroup after lunch at 1.30 pm. It was 12.15 pm. I was irriteated, but accepted the fact because I wanted to finish the interview. They returned at 2.40 pm while I and another three candidates were still waiting. By the time my turn came it was 6.30 pm.

When I showed the letter to the interviewer, he just nodded and said it might be a typographical mistake. No apology, no concern, nothing. Just a statement. The interview covered a multitude of unrelated questions and a great deal of personal ones. I was thoroughly disappointed with the way they conducted the affair. I want to make it a point to bring this to the notice of the higher echelon - like the head of hr and the ceo fo the company. How can people be so gross and unprofessional and still get away with it?

Would it make any difference if I said that that is the world we live in? Perhaps not...but naturally and ideally we want things to go smoothly. And in a professional environment we expect to be treated professionally and sometimes that is not how the world often functions.

That is why all you can do is what you set out to do. Make a complaint...as this is in fact the only way that the company Heads can be made aware of the daily happenings.
