There is a situation in my office that is really bothering me. I'm wondering what you would do in this case. There are 3 secretaries in the office. One of the managers would work 10AM - 7PM on Mondays only. As such the secretaries would rotate the schedule so that a different one would work each week. They even filled out the calendar 3 or 4 months into the future so that they knew who was to work when. Well one week the manager called off sick and so the secretary was told to take the day off or only come in to do extra stuff. Do you think that this secretary should have to work the next late Monday out of fairness or should the calendar just continue as it was written meaning that the secretary was just lucky enough not to have to work that late Monday. What kind of policy should be implemented here?

My oppinion is that the scheduel should be respected and that secretary should work in that day because they've agreed on a plan on work for a long time and an event like this should not mess things up.That secretary can work without her boss for sure , she can do all the important "papers" that she has.
