Hi all, this is my first post, and I'm in need of advice.

I have spent about two years living abroad in Japan and am satisfied with what I have accomplished. Now I am looking forward to returning to the US, and I would like to line up some job interviews so that I'll be busy as soon as I get back. I'm due to be back next March (2007), which brings me to my question.

What kind of caveats should I be aware of when I contact potential employers from outside of the country? Also, it is my belief that most employers are looking to fill advertised positions immediately, so what kind of realistic expectations do I have for setting up interviews in advance?

I'm impressed by the community here, and am looking forward to see what some members have to comment.
