Do you believe that this thing can happen to be overqualified for a job?And if so how are you gonna write your cv so that it look good enough?
Do you have to delete some of your info that who isn't need for that job?Or you make a cv like for the other jobs? |

Hi Cip,
Personally, I don't take this as being a problem, even if it happened to me in the past to find myself "overqualified" of "too good" for a job. I took the rejection as being rude at first but later on I understood the reasons of the employer....he was right...If I were to be offered a better paid job, I would definitely leave the present one. Wouldn't anyone do the same?
Why should you be aware of this thing? Well...if you are overqualified but you accept a job just to have the money, you will NOT have the possibility to develop at your full potential (yes, you'll be great at what you do in the respective company but will you EVOLUATE?)
Again, personally, I will never change anything reated to my education and experience just to soften the resume because, , from my point of view, I'm searching for the best and up to now, I got it.
Nevertheless, I agree there are people who are in need of money and accept working in various places, even if they are overqualified. I even respect this decision...after all, we can't all have it all |

I've changed my resume to the point of moving my education to the bottom (so they would see my skills and experience first, rather than just throwing my resume out first thing because they didn't want someone with a degree).
I can agree with the employer's point of view...to a point. I was instantly rejected for a job because of my degree because they were worried I'd leave quickly...yet a couple months after I applied, I saw they were advertising for the position again, so apparently whoever they so carefully hired INSTEAD of someone with a degree had left already! I, meanwhile, would STILL be there over a year later had they hired me.
So I guess really, you never can tell. |

i can also add, if a candidate is over qualified, they may not secure interviews or offers, no employer wants to take soneone on who may leave in 6 months
As a recruiter, l do sometime exclude parts that may be a hinderances to securing interviews -- one has to be wise, but still honest.
