Hi, here is my problem...

Back in late july i posted my cv to at least 8 supermarkets, so that i can obtain a part-time job. And then throughout August i went on holiday and now i am back.
The problem is that, i do not know if these supermarkets have contacted me while i was away. I've had no missed calls, mail or anything.

Is this normal? Should i carry on waiting, or should i apply again to the same stores? I seriously want to work in a supermarket and i need the experience of work as i have a placement year next year.
