I would like to go into physical therapy (PT). My question is whether or not a minor in Biochemistry would be beneficial,or if I should instead take a double major in PT and biochem. Please keep in mind that in the distant future I would like to do research and perform experiments to develope more effective workout philosophies.
Thank you for any and all help!

| PT and biochemistry would be the choice if you want also to do researches and experiments in the field. My boyfriend is now a physical therapist. He's just interested in "healing" (injury recovery, massage and all these), not in bringing something new in the field. But even so, he found it very hard for the first college year to participate in biochemistry and anatomy courses so...you'll have an advantage if you take them as if from now. |

Have you talked to people in the industry? See if you can find someone doing research in Physical Therapy and ask him or her what education they have and wish he or she had. Find out who is writing the research articles in PT journals. Contact them, let them know what you are thinking, and see what they recommend for education. See if you can set up a time to visit one of them to see the work first hand.
Network now with the people that you will be working with later. |
