I was toying with the idea of spending my gap year in over seas voluntary work. DO you have any experience in this. I am looking to do something for the less fortunate. Before I spend my days living in the urban jungle and trying to become a full much hated lawyer Twisted Evil

So where is safe to go and where is it that a lawyer can do some good by Overseas Voluntary Work ?

A gap year is not only for other but also for yourself. You gain Confidence, Independence, New skills, Cultural awareness. Hopefully this will motivate others which have a good life to take a year and contribute to the world and to the people. A gap year can also be spent in conservation projects.

That would be fun...I'd love to join the Peace Corps or something for a bit.

I think you really have to be lucky though, to do that--have parents that can support you (esp. since you have to pay to participate in many of these programs, don't you, and you don't get paid for doing it?), and a good opportunity to get jobs when you get back. I figured that if I took a year off for the Peace Corps or something, it wouldn't get me any further than having put off the situation I'm in now--unable to find a job--for another year. I'd rather take that year to try to establish myself; it's bad enough being unemployed and living with my mother at 22. I'd hate to still be doing it when I'm 23 (which means I have about three months to find a job, lol). If it's something you can manage though, go for it! It sounds like a load of fun and you'll really get to accomplish something.
