Hi

Ive just finished my CV which is a template which i will use to apply for JOURNALISM jobs. Ive removed all of my personal details. Please have a look at it and let me know what you think and offer reccomendations if you can think of areas which may need improving. Many Thanks (CV is shown below after my name)

Canterbury Christ Church University (Predicted 2:1)

Courses studied include Market Research, Consumer Buyer Behaviour, International Marketing, Services Marketing and Organisational Behaviour.

Conducted a research project into the human resources management at Royal Mail which involved a detailed level of both primary and secondary research. Achieved a score of 80%.

Produced multiple verbal presentations throughout the course, working in teams with a wide range of individuals who possessed differing levels of ability. Gained good interpersonal, organisational, communication and team player skills as a result of this.

Achieved eight out of a possible eleven 1st scores in pieces of third year coursework.

Work Experience:

Oct 2005 – Present day Checkout operator, Morrisons Supermarkets Plc, Canterbury

Duties involve ensuring customer satisfaction and service efficiency are maintained as well as routine tasks such as stock control are completed.

Have further developed verbal communication, interpersonal and cash handling skills.

Dec 2004 – Sept 2005 Bar Supervisor, JD Wetherspoons Plc, Rochester

Worked as part of a team in a very pressurised high street pub environment.

Duties included serving customers, ensuring cleanliness standards were maintained, stock control and replenishment, training new members of staff and ensuring company rules were maintained.

Promoted to a supervisor position after only five months as a result of good sales, motivational performance and hard work.

Entrusted with the authority to be in charge of the bar environment (often leading a team of 2-5 bar staff on both quiet and busy shifts), delegate individual staff to conduct necessary tasks, anticipate potential demand areas and allocate resources accordingly and deal with troublesome customers.

Learnt and developed the ability to work under the pressure generated from often very demanding customers in a job which required implementing both individual and team working skills. Also learnt to make quick decisions under pressure.

Gained and developed good interpersonal and verbal communication skills dealing with customers and staff with a wide range of personalities. Also further developed cash handling skills.

Jan 2001 – Sept 2004 Kitchen Assistant, Rowland’s Bistro, Gillingham

Helped maintain cleanliness and operational standards in busy high street restaurant and takeaway.

Given responsibility to run takeaway and manage other staff during busy shifts. Also given the responsibility to train new staff.


Computer Skills:

Fully competent with Microsoft Word and Explorer. Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint and Access. Also possess basic knowledge of using SPSS.


Interests:

Keen follower of football, socialising and meeting new people, reading thriller and action novels, listening to music and keeping fit.

Hi there,

I had a look at your cv and it looks ok from the point of view of the way in which you have displayed the information. Good job with the objective, just make one corpus, not three phrases, it would look more compact. Good job with the education listed first (in your case, it is more important than the experience...you don't have any in the field you're searching a job in) and with the detailed way of the courses you have done.
Good job with the job listing...with details, duties and responsibilities.
Nothing else to say besides the fact that it is a pity you have done nothing in the journalism field. But...it's a good start now.
