Hello,

Approximately 4 years ago I made a huge mistake in my life and was arrested for FELONY I (intent to deliver thc). I have literally turned my life around and was looking at getting a bachelors degree in information technology. I am having so may doubts though because I fear this felony will stop me from any chances of getting a good job. It will be very hard for me to save for this education and I would hate to spend that much money on a degree if my felony will kill my chances. I guess no matter what I can't live not knowing so I will probably still go through and get the degree but realistically, what do you all think my chances will be of getting a good job as a felon with a Bachelor Degree in information technology. Thank you so much in advance for any advice/input!

Sometimes you can get a felony or other criminal conviction expunged [removed] from your record after a set amount of time. First, check this out. You will have to do some research and inquiry of your local government [start with the state if a state conviction, etc]. Than, whatever schooling you take: find out what the job outlook is, then the job outlook with your conviction if it cannot be removed. You do not want a dead end job either way. If the career you choose in IT involves nothing of a legal sort, you might not be affected.
Hope everything works out; you do have some time consuming work ahead of you so good luck!

On the contrary, mdb. If you have had a felony of 4 years (ugh...that's quite a log one) and you pursue a bachelor's degree after, it means that you have good intentios for your life and you are going to change your past behavior. It is just how you manage to resist the faces and challenges of college that is it important now. Because after college, if you do a very goos job during classes, the degree will function as an eraser or a smoothener of your felony. So choose wisely what degree you intend to obtain and go for it!!!!
