I have been working for a company for the last 8 years. Infact I I was one of the first employees they had. I am now 6 months pregnant with my first child, and am finding it difficult to accept unpaid pregnancy leave.
My company doesn’t offer this benefit and they won’t even give me the 12 weeks paid leave. So I’m asking myself Unpaid Maternity Leave Anyway Around It? Can they make an exception for me? How can I put it nicely to them?

If it is not their policy to pay then you might just simply be out of luck. I do not know that you can force a paid maternity leave out of them, I think the only requirement is that they give you the option for a leave. you might check the legality of it with a lawyer, your local wage and labor place, or see if you can get government assistance during the time you are off work.
