Hi. I'm posting this topic because of the huge dilemma I'm in after a new job offer that i've received.

Here's the story:

Right now i'm working in a small, but with a relatively pleasant working environment, company.
My position is the one i've always been after since i graduated. The problem is the working hours
and the very few benefits.

Just a few days ago i received a job offer for a government position. It has a pretty much similar
salary to my current position. The working hours are unclear but should be better than my current
job. The catch is that this job is somewhat unrelated to my degree (despite the fact that the job
announcement said that this degree would be a plus) and that it involves settling down in foreign
countries (which need assistance in extreme situations such as war or natural disasters) for a period
for 2-4 years at a time, and once you return home you settle down for a period of 1-2 years, then
assigned to another country where you have not served in before (demanded by law) as so on forth.
For a start though, a period of 2 years of training and trial period is scheduled (which is to be served
at your home country).
The benefits of this position though are much more and is a job that secures my future once and for all.
The problem is that i don't really feel comfortable with the settling down in foreign countries in the
manner required and the fact that they told us that most of the times you may have to work long hours
when abroad.

I should also mention that i'm relatively young (at my early 20's). Please help me decide if i should
accept or decline this job.

Any help as soon as possible is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It all boils down to this in my opinion: WHAT FUTURE? You say this second job secures your future but will you have a future? I can see you're pretty aware of everything related to this job, it's good. And it all depends on what you want from and for your life. Settling down in other countries...that's no permanent settling down, you'll have to move away in two years, right? Do you want a family? Will this family constantly be on the run. You know better, knight.
There's also the possibility of doing this for a couple of time (Let's say two yeasr and if you don't like it, you just come back to your old thing), especially if you're young.

Hey julian!

Thanks for quick the reply and for all the help. I'm constantly leaning towards rejecting the offer. The more i analyze the facts and pros and cons i realize that this job is not for me, and that i have also the chance to try for something better if only i'm patient enough.

Thank you very much for all the help. Please share any thoughts if you have any following my current post.

Thanks.
