Hello- I live in Colorado and recently found out at my job of 3 years ends on June 30th. I am 3 months pregnant and will be losing my health insurance as well at the end of the month.
The business that I work for is bankrupt and going out of business as of July 1st, but a family relative of the owner wants to start a new business and buy the name of the existing business. They are requesting that everyone apply to the new business and negotiate salaries because they can't afford all the people/pay.
The question for me is.. Can I file for unemployment if I don't apply to the new business? Technically the business I work for is gone, but I am not sure all the logistics of this. Reason being is the new business will not offer health insurance, and prenatal care is outrageous, so I really don't want to jeopardize any help I could possibly get between jobs.
Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated. |
