Hello everyone.
I have just finished a 3 year degree and I am now jobhunting. My problem is my work history. I have spent several years in call centres in insurance, and have really not got anywhere. Each time I swapped jobs, it was because I was unhappy. I had gained professional qualifications, but the call centre environment was not right for me. I always thought it was just taht particular company but gradually came to realise that it was the type of work.

Now I am updating my CV I am stuck. I never had positions of authority or responsibility - you didn't get anything like taht unless you could hit targets which I couldn't (except on things like quality). When I read other sample CV's I see things like "generated £x of revenue" or "implemented new system".

All I can say in mine is that I carried out the general day to day functions.
That's why I started at Uni - I am expecting a good grade (in a different field entirely) and have completely changed. But how do I put this across in a CV?

Also with references, I can provide my tutor as one and I know it will be a good reference. However they also want my most recent employer. If they see that they'll probably turn me right down. I was sick all the time due to stress and completely unmotivated. At uni, I think I had one day off sick in three years (and even then I went in anyway). Personal or otehr references are not pemitted.

Is there any way of salvaging all of this?

What positive things can you extract from your work with the call centres ?
I am sure there is some skills you have learnt or some experience which has enriched your profile.

If you have a bad reference it is a problem, however do you have reports or any other proof which says you did a good job ? A wage increase maybe ?

You also need to align the jobs you are applying their requirements with your experience and qualifications.
