USA

I loved working in the Beauty industry!!!
Last year, I felt that my position was not going anywhere so I wanted to look else. During this time, I found out that my dad had passed away. This was difficult period. So I decide to leave my job because of family reason.
A month later, landed another job in the apparel industry. I was not happy!
I wanted to return back to beauty! Unfortunately, people at beauty job found out that I left for another not for family which was not true.
So one of my "suppose" colleague says that I ruin my reputation. This made me so unhappy. I don't know what to do.
I do want to return back.
What should I do?
Should go back and stand up or have a FRESH start?

Not a good idea to go back to that company and begin your coming back by convincing people of the reasons you have left. A waste of time and energy. Besides, they will allways be suspicious of you and you won't find peace and fulfillment in there. I'm telling you this because I know that once a person has formed an image about you, it is very difficult to change that image in his/her head.
You could start a fresh career in beauty instead. It's not like there's only one beauty company in your city/country Smile Right?

Thank you, Lilo for your response.

What if I apply into a different division in the same company. People the DON'T know me. Will that make a a difference in going back?

Let me know your thoughts.

Hi...I think the secnd choice would actually work for you. If you say the members of the other department don't know you, then fine, you can try that. But still...In a company, news travel as fast as the speed of light, you can imagine all the talking. Still...I believe that if you're strong enough to undergo all this mumbling bumbling, you can just do your job peoperly and after a while even get a promotion...who knows. The advantage of working in the same company is that you allready know how things work in there, you know?

Since your location is listed as NYC, and you have a ton of places to apply at, I would not be too concerned about limitations of finding a job in the beauty field. Get yourself a good resume together and start looking. If you loved your old job, check around and you might find a better paying one. You might try to go back and reason to get your old job back, but do not push the issue if you are declined. I will say that this 'colleague' might have had something to do with the twisted truth about why you left, so be careful in regards to them, especially if they had something to gain from your loss. You do deserve a chance at getting your job back, but what you deserve and what is given to you are two different things and very much out of your control at that.
