If you have been laid off from your job remember that it is not the end of the world. You need to keep plugging away until you find the next opportunity. There are jobs available, and you are qualified! Even though it can be difficult, avoid panicking over finding another job. This is only going to make things worse as the days go by. Make looking for a job your new job your no one priority. Be sure to contact everybody in your network group to see if they have any positions available. Also add checking the print and online classifieds into your daily routine. You never know where your next opportunity is going to come from. Don't just sit back and wait, take the initiative to improve your chances.
If you are having a tough time finding a new position, look into a temporary agency. There are hundreds of them scattered across the country. Sign up with one and see if they can find you a position. Even though it is not common, some human resources departments may be hiring for other departments even though they are laying off people in other areas. If you are qualified for another position within the company be sure to express your interest. You already have an in with the company, and if you can get your former supervisor to supply you with a good letter of recommendation you will have a good chance of getting rehired. Do not panic if it takes a while to find a new job. Remember to stick with your plan, and exercise all of your options. Something will open up soon enough. | |||
