It's important to love what you do, so finding a job that will make you happy is essential to turning it into a career. There are many people who have done just that. In fact, the majority of people who have acollege degree while working in a job that requires one, are not working in their respective field. This is becoming more and more common, though many occupations require one to stay on a specific career path.

The second step to turning your job into a career is to decide what it will take to make it happen. This means you must become goal oriented, if you haven't already done so. The major goal, of course, is to become successful in your career, but there are many smaller goals you must first reach to obtain it.

Small goals can include: receiving additional training, beginning in an entry level position with a company in order to work your way up to one that actually requires your specific degree, and taking on extra job duties to show your eagerness to accept new tasks. The greater the number of smaller goals you reach, the closer you?ll be to attaining the larger one.

It's all about the bigger picture. When first viewing it, try to think in sections, breaking each goal down in order to figure out how it will each on will be reached. Failure to do this can result in frustration because you are looking at the larger goals and wondering how you could possibly meet them. By starting small, then working your way up, you will gain confidence in both yourself and your abilities, and others will gain confidence in you.
