Police Promotion cover letter 1

Cpt. Daniel Hunter
Southern Miami Police Station
3465 Sun Blvd.
Miami, FL 33109

Dear Captain Hunter,

I have been a sergeant at this station for quite some time now. I started here back in 1994 and you conducted my interview. After 14 years here, I'm absolutely proud and happy to be serving with what I think is the best police force in the country.

After these six years as a sergeant, I believe it is time for me to move up. I would like to continue to serve the city as a detective, and the new rank would give me resources and access to better do so. With the new rank of detective, I would have more men working with me and together we could take on the Miami gang, a personal goal of mine.

The following is a list of some of my accomplishments over these 14 years:

  • The arrest of Michael de Fuago, the drug dealer that we arrested and secured 1.4 million dollars of cocaine from.
  • The investigation of the missing Jonas girl, and subsequently her return and arrest of the two men responsible.
  • The community programs my wife and I have put together in southern Miami, specifically the fundraising for the community center.
  • The arrest of serial killer James Hammond, aka 'the night ripper.'

I believe that I am ready for the promotion and I would continue to serve the city as a lieutenant. My record shows my drive, perseverance, and loyalty to this station.

Captain, I thank you for taking time out of your day to read this letter. Please contact me on my cell if you wish to talk more about this. The number is 654-679-2881.
