Police Promotion cover letter 2

Cpt. Frank Lyle
Pottstown Area Police Station
133 Buckwalter Rd.
Pottstown, PA 19433

Dear Captain Lyle,

I hope this letter finds you well and in good condition. I am writing this to ask you about a possible promotion for me. Although I have only been on the force for five years, I think it is time for me to move from Officer to Detective.

My record should give you all the information you need on why I deserve a promotion. During my time as an officer for this station, I have not only arrested well over four hundred criminals for committing crimes ranging from speeding to drug dealing, but I have also helped to lead the community in becoming a safer place.

Last year, I started the 'Let's Play Safe' program for the children at the local elementary schools. The program, as you know, details the ways that kids can have fun outside but remain safe while doing it. This includes a talk about stranger safety, the danger of the roads, and the buddy system. I was awarded two plaques last year at two of the school's banquets for my efforts and the success of the program. Since last year, 'Let's Play Safe' has started not only in other schools in Pennsylvania, but it is spread to New Jersey and Delaware as well.

My commitment and dedication to this community is why I think that I deserve to be promoted to detective. As a detective, I can continue my efforts with more resources.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you have questions or you would like to talk to me in person, please contact me on my cell phone. The number is 466-789-3221.

Sincerely,

Officer James Sibley
