FAQ Home > Job Search > Already Employed

How can you obtain a reference from your current employer for job search purposes?

Unless your employer is aware of your job search, it is best not to approach him directly. You can ask one of your fellow employees to act as reference, or get a hold of a previous employee or supervisor to vouch for you. Most employers realize that the current employer will not be too happy with your job search and will be satisfied with colleague or ex-boss references.
