Job search question regarding salary negotiation – if a salary offer is too low, how should I negotiate for a better offer and is it acceptable?

Most companies have already set a budget for employment and are only willing to negotiate in that range. They do however, expect the prospective employee to negotiate on salary and benefits. The best way to negotiate is to ask the recruiter what salary range do they have in mind for the position and measure what you have to offer against the salary. The amount that will be agreed upon depends on your experience, soft skills and qualifications , as well as those of the competition, the current employment market and their budget. Keep that in mind when you negotiate and be flexible.
