Interview questions, in fact the entire interview process, can confuse some people. They don't understand the basic logic of interviews, or why some interview questions seem to be unrelated to the jobs. Their interview answers lack depth of information.

If that sounds like you, now is the time to start looking for some training. In practice, you should get some sort of interview training, even if it's just a refresher, every five years. Interviews, and interview questions, change drastically over time. Interview questions of five years ago are no longer in the lexicon.

Interview answers have changed, too. It was discovered soon after the merit system started that people were learning their interview answers by rote. The result was a lot of people giving identical, or nearly identical, interview answers. That was against the whole idea of the merit system. The interview system has become a lot more efficient. Nobody thinks it's perfect, but there are a lot more supports for people having trouble, and the training is a lot more effective. The internet has helped the employment industry modernize and keep training current, too.
