The value of internships

You can use a checklist approach to check out any internship. It's simple, and saves time.

  • Name of internship provider (reputation matters)
  • Terms of internship (the fine print, what's being offered, on what terms)
  • Stated level of internship (if it's not up to that level, it's an instant warning sign)
  • Professional skills required (find out in detail what's involved)
  • Qualification value (critically important: is the internship accepted by colleges?)

If any of these basic checklist points don't meet requirements, discard the internship. You can check internships out with professional sources, including colleges, professionals, employers, and industry sources.
