What is medical interpreter training like?

A medical interpreter training course will typically consist of around 60 hours of learning. The individual that is engaged in this type of course will have to learn a great deal of medical terminology in both English and the language into which she will be translating. During this course, she will have to be able to prove that she can translate in some tough medical situations. Students may also have to take courses like "Interpreter Ethics" in order to learn what is and what is not acceptable for medical interpreters. This training will show them what it will be like in a real medical environment.
