Making Unemployment Less Stressful

One of the main things you find yourself coping with while jobless is stress. The stress of not having a job and the stress of coping with life changes while being jobless can become something to deal with in your life after losing your job. In these situations you must find a way to make unemployment less stressful.

Eating Healthy

The term 'eating healthy' does not mean go on a diet. But while jobless you do need to maintain a healthy eating regime, including eating the proper amounts of healthy foods. Coping with stress while jobless makes people want to skip meals, limit the amount of food eaten, or consider a few cookies as lunch. Not having a job brings enough life changes without you not eating properly.

The potato chips and microwave pizza may sound good, little of what you allow yourself to eat does any good. But, this also does not mean eating boring food because you are jobless. Here are a few tips to help:

  • Limit the salt intake
  • Some stress reducing foods include bananas, kiwi, celery, grapes, lettuce, cinnamon, barley, oats, and basil.
  • Increase your intake of pasta, bread, oily fish, white meat, fruits, vegetables and any salads.
  • Cut to the bare minimum any sugar or refined carbohydrates.
  • For low blood sugar you will need a high protean/low carbohydrate diet with many smaller meals.
  • Garlic, pumpkin seed, and sunflower seeds are all good pep-ups for instant energy.
  • Avocados, Lentils, Raspberries and Spinach are all good to fight off fatigue.
  • Ginseng is another good remedy for stress reduction.

Rest and Recreation

We all need to relax, play, sleep and dream at various times. There are many ways to cope with the stress of being jobless by letting go and enjoying the day for awhile. This helps to recharge our batteries and build up reserves of energy again. Here are a few ideas:

  • Relax and enjoy the quiet time. Creative solutions to not having a job can appear at these times.
  • Coping with stress causes a run down feeling. Getting the sleep needed helps with this problem.
  • With life changes all around you, take some of the free time and have fun during the time you have.

A Positive Healthy Mind

A positive healthy mind is equivalent to a healthy body. The more positive we feel, the healthier we are. Positive thinking affects our bodies and our experiences with life changes. What you think and feel create the choices available to you. These choices and decisions from them help cope with the life changes. Coping positively with stress and being jobless helps find answers to the overall problem of not having a job.

Between positive thinking, relaxation techniques, eating properly, and stress management you can cope with the life changes when you are jobless. Not having a job provides the time to refine your personal attitude and lifestyle to a healthier outlook.
