Job Description:
I am a bartender who just finished college. While sick of the bar life, I started applying for jobs a while back but with no luck. One of my regulars came in one night with a group of people and while giving them their food, she introduced me to the people sitting with her. I nodded politely as she was not one of my favorites but I still tried to be nice to her regardless. One of the people with her was a high profile accountant in our area and she said he was looking for help! My stomach flipped but I stayed quiet as I served them and my regular told her accountant friend that I had just graduated and was looking for a good job. At the end of the night, her friend came over and gave me a business card and asked that I come in the next day for an interview. I did, and now I have been at the accounting firm for about a month now. Come to find out one of my most difficult customers helped me land a big job.

Sometimes a job promotion can come from an unlikely conact, which is why it is a good idea to try to network with people that you know on a constant basis. A contact can come by way of the table you serve in a restaurant and be your next job. Not unbelievable. Just keep in mind that yo should be doing your best always and be as social as possible because you never know when the person who holds the keys to your dream job will waltz across your path.
