They investigate design possibilities for aircrafts and are also responsible for the improvement, testing and building of aircrafts, spacecrafts and simulators, control panels and general upgrading of equipment.

Employment
Work can be found in the military institutions and with large commercial entities such as aircraft manufacturers, as well as fleet management companies. You can specialize in research where you will conduct studies on new designs and equipment or you can work in the design field. You will need to be able to work with computer design programs to develop prototypes.

Work conditions
The aerospace engineer works on average 35 to 45 hours a week and there are severe deadlines for investigations and projects to keep. It is office, hanger and factory based although some traveling may be required.

Qualifications
An engineering degree in an aerospace or aviation technology related field is required for working as an engineer in this field. Ongoing training is provided through apprenticeship programs and you must register and obtain a license from the aviation board in your country.
